The Carezza Forest reservoir is a challenging project in the heart of the Carezza ski area, requiring our comprehensive expertise as general planners, construction managers, and safety coordinators. The goal of the project was to optimize the water supply for artificial snowmaking on the surrounding ski slopes and ensure long-term snow security.
The original reservoir was expanded from 5,000 m³ to 37,000 m³ to meet the increased water demand. The construction work included the complete renewal of the earth dam and the installation of a state-of-the-art sealing system, consisting of geotextiles, FPO membrane, and filter layers, to ensure maximum tightness and stability. The geological conditions of the site required innovative soil stabilization measures, including compaction and treatment of the subsoil with lime and cement.
Our construction management ensured efficient execution, while the safety coordination implemented a continuous monitoring mechanism with piezometers and inclinometers to maintain structural integrity. A new pumping station supplies the expanded snowmaking facilities efficiently and energy-saving, with advanced control systems ensuring optimal resource utilization.
The Carezza forest reservoir stands as a model of sustainable infrastructure in alpine areas, meeting the needs of the modern snow sports industry while adhering to the highest environmental and safety standards.
