Martinsbrunn

The renovation and extension of the Martinsbrunn Senior Residence and ParkClinic in Merano is one of the region’s most demanding healthcare and eldercare construction projects. In collaboration with architect Marco Rizzoli, PLANTEAM was responsible for the overall site management, ensuring that all construction, technical and operational processes were precisely coordinated while the clinic remained fully functional.

The historic building ensemble – under heritage protection – was carefully modernised and expanded with a new north-east wing. The project responds to regional healthcare directives in post-acute and long-term care while creating urgently needed nursing capacity for the city of Merano. All construction stages were carried out during ongoing clinical operations, requiring meticulous logistical and organisational planning.

The extension, including the addition of an extra storey to the new north-east wing, was essential to create three clear and self-contained levels for the nursing home, each accommodating around 30 beds. The first construction phase included demolition and reconstruction of the north-east wing, followed by a full refurbishment of the remaining building. The entire project was realised according to KlimaHaus Class B energy standards.

Through structured coordination, technical precision and great sensitivity toward the protected architectural ensemble, PLANTEAM ensured that Martinsbrunn could evolve into a modern, efficient and future-oriented healthcare facility – while preserving its historical significance for Merano.
