With the new 10-seater Franzin gondola lift, Carezza Dolomites replaces the former drag lift dating back to 1976 with a modern and high-performance ropeway system. The lift was commissioned for the 2025/2026 winter season. The project aims to sustainably improve internal accessibility within the ski area and to optimize the connection between the König Laurin / Welschnofen and Paolina / Karerpass ski zones.
The new gondola lift connects the Moseralm (1,580 m) with the Franzin Alm (1,779 m), overcoming a vertical difference of approximately 199 m over a horizontal length of around 1,309 m. With a travel time of about 4:50 minutes, a maximum speed of 5 m/s and a transport capacity of up to 2,400 passengers per hour, the system meets high standards in terms of efficiency and capacity.
The detachable 10-seater gondola lift is equipped with up to 37 cabins and ensures comfortable, weather-independent transport of passengers and sports equipment. It represents a significant improvement in quality, particularly for families, beginners, snowboarders and guests with reduced mobility.
From a technological standpoint, the Franzin gondola lift sets new benchmarks: as the first newly built gondola lift in Italy, it is equipped with LEITNER’s autonomous LeitPilot system. Combined with the energy-efficient DirectDrive system, operating processes are automated, energy consumption is optimized and noise emissions are significantly reduced.
As part of the project, the existing installation was completely dismantled and replaced by a new alignment located closer to the ski slopes. The compact station buildings, featuring noise-optimized structures and larch wood façades, blend discreetly into the alpine landscape.
PLANTEAM was responsible for the planning of the project and supported the implementation of this key infrastructure development for the Carezza Dolomites ski area.
